Walk 7K, 12K or 13 miles and enjoy the lovely scenery of the Loch Leven Heritage Trail while raising vital funds for people affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions in Scotland.
Helping people is such a natural thing to do when the setting is the great outdoors!
This year’s Loch Leven Walkathon takes place on Mother’s Day, making it a fabulous and fun day out for the whole family.
All three routes start and finish at Loch Leven’s Larder, have fantastic views and are suitable for all ages and abilities.
The walks are signposted along well-maintained footpaths – and four-legged friends are welcome too!
What better way to raise money for a great cause?
Enjoy a family treasure hunt on the 7K walk where you collect clues and follow the trail to claim your prize!
Sponsorship: Walkers can support our work by getting sponsorship or by making a donation. There is no minimum sponsorship for these walks but we are always immensely grateful for any funds you can gather, however big or small. Optional sponsor forms and information about raising funds will be included in your registration pack.
Accessibility: The 7K and 12K walks are wheelchair- and buggy- friendly. A limited number of electric scooters are available. Please book in advance to reserve one if required.
Age restrictions: All children (under 5) and young people (aged 5-17) are very welcome but must be accompanied on all routes by a responsible adult aged 18 or over. A maximum of 4 young people can be with any one accompanying adult on either route.

Take part in a full day’s walk through the stunning Scottish landscape and raise vital funds to help people live their lives to the full.
Sponsorship: We ask entrants to raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland. You pay £10 towards this target when you register, leaving just £40 to raise. For our part, we will provide all the support you need to help you meet and beat your fundraising goal.
Accessibility: The 13 mile walk involves a small flight of steps and is therefore not wheelchair accessible. We ask that all participants are confident in completing the 13 mile route within a 6 hour time limit including breaks.
Age restrictions: We recommend that participants are aged 13 or over on the day of the event, however younger walkers can take part at the discretion of their parents. All children (under 5) and young people (aged 5-17) must be accompanied on all routes by a responsible adult aged 18 or over. A maximum of 4 young people can be with any one accompany adult on this route.

Whether you’re living with one of our conditions and are setting yourself an inspiring personal challenge, are taking part in memory of a loved one or just want to enjoy a great walk with all the family, the Loch Leven Walkathon is for you!
By stepping up and walking with us at the Loch Leven Walkathon, you’ll be helping people across Scotland get the support they desperately need when they return home from hospital.
The money you raise through sponsorship will change the lives of the people we help on a daily basis across Scotland.
Chest, heart and stroke conditions account for 40% of all adult deaths in Scotland. More people than ever before are living with chest, heart or stroke conditions.
And since the pandemic, the people we help have included those suffering the effects of Long Covid.
Last year, Troy, 53 from East Lothian suffered a stroke leading to the ‘darkest time of his life.’
He is grateful for the support provided by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
“I have never felt more scared and alone than when I had a stroke.
“But life changed for me when I got help from Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
“The team at this amazing charity rescued me and my family from the darkest time in our lives.”
