Aviemore 100 FAQ

Event Menu

Am I good enough?

Yes! The ‘Aviemore 100’ is a challenge but it’s an achievable challenge providing you are reasonably fit and healthy, have some experience of road and MTB riding and understand that it’s all about completing the challenge and not about how fast you do it. If you are concerned about completing the whole challenge then why not enter as a pair with a friend and complete your preferred section.

How hard is it?

The road section is approximately 70km and follows quiet rural roads with various undulations but nothing too serious. The mountain bike route is approximately 30km and follows an exciting range of off-road forest trails and paths with a few fun technical sections! A well-maintained mountain bike with hydraulic disc brakes and front suspension is recommended as a minimum for the MTB route and hybrids or cross-bikes are not permitted.

For more information about any technical or riding aspect of the Aviemore 100 event just email your question to

I have a road bike but not a Mountain Bike and want to take part as a solo?

Don’t worry! Mountain bike rental is readily available for participants from Mikes Bikes (Aviemore) at a special rate of just £12 for the event. Rental bikes must be collected before the event day and will not be transported to the event hub. You can book your bike hire during the registration process or contact Mikes Bikes (Aviemore) via email at, where arrangements for returning bikes post-event will be discussed with you too. Please also note that Hybrid bikes and cross bikes are not permitted.

How safe is the event?

The ‘Aviemore 100’ event will be subject to a detailed event safety risk assessment and every practical measure will be in place to ensure the safety of participants and others. Approval and close liaison will be maintained with all relevant public agencies, the local police and especially all local communities. The entire event route will be well-signed and will have competent marshals in place and adequate communications, medical cover and bike technical assistance will be across the event. You will be well supported to complete your ‘Aviemore 100’ challenge.

What is the minimum entry age?

All entrants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the event. You are required to provide us with your date of birth when you enter, which also helps us to categorise you appropriately for the race timing results.
