Do you know what heart failure is and how to recognise the symptoms? It is estimated that more than 100,000 people in Scotland are living with heart failure but many more will have it and not know it. Heart failure is a serious medical condition where the heart does not pump blood around the body as well as it should. This means that your blood can’t deliver enough oxygen and nourishment to your body to allow it to work normally.
European Heart Failure Awareness Day 2016 is on 6th May and is all about raising awareness of heart failure, including the possible symptoms and the importance of an early diagnosis. This is so that that people with heart failure can get the right care and treatment as early as possible. CHSS is working across Scotland to support those living with heart failure and their families. As part of European Heart Failure Awareness Day, we have events taking place at Inverness, the Western Isles and in the West of Scotland so please do visit if you are in the area.
