Chest support groups in your local area

Inverclyde Globetrotters with Clyde. Chest group with mascot

Many people find it hugely helpful to make contact with other people living with a similar condition to themselves. CHSS has a number of support groups across Scotland which offer a wide range of support including exercise, social activities and an opportunity to meet and talk to other people who understand what you are going through.

These groups are run by people with long term chest conditions and are open to anyone in Scotland affected by chest illness as well as their partners and families. To find out if there is a group in your local area search here. You can also call our Advice Line Nurses on 0808 801 0899.

The groups vary from large groups which offer a weekly programme of activities to smaller groups that might meet once a month for a coffee and a chat. They all offer the chance to share information and experiences in a friendly, supportive environment.

Peer support groups can make a real difference to some people’s recovery and quality of life. Here’s what people say about their groups;

“Attending my peer support group means company and a cuppa!  We support each other and it gives you a different outlook on life”.

“My peer support group has helped me learn how to live with my condition.  I now put the condition to the back of my mind and enjoy life”.

“Our members and carers give each other so much support, they are inspirational”!
