Living with a long term chest condition does not necessarily mean that you will have to stop working. Whether or not you are able to continue to work will depend on the severity of your symptoms such as your breathlessness and on the type of job that you do.
If you are finding it difficult to continue working as normal because of your condition, you should discuss this with your GP, your employer and occupational health at your work as well as your chest doctor. It may be possible to make changes to your current role (for example working less hours or from home more) that would enable you to continue working.
If you are unable to work or your partner has to give up work to look after you, you may be left with financial difficulties. However there are benefits that you may be entitled too.
